1 step: starting your design -Using Adobe Illustrator Maker Space or Inks cape at the Johnson County Library at home, design your digital files.
-Export images to SVG (scalable vector graphics). This is a format that can be imported into
Tinker cad, Maker Space or laser cutting machine can also be used on the plotter.
2nd step: start your 3D design
-Use Tinker cad to do simple 3D modeling. If you've never been to Tinker-cad before you need to register for a free account.
-Start a new model and use the screen on the right side of the "import" tool, and choose how you have created the document.
-You should see your design on your work space. Next, add a shape key tag for us.
3rd step: make a key tag
-Use the basic shapes to create a base for the design. Once we have the basic shape of the key tag we will add a hole for our key ring. We will select the cylinder shape and use the inspector tab to make it a hole.
-Once the key tag is designed select all the shapes and group them. Grouping them will knock out the hole for our key tag. Now you’re ready to download the .STL file to print!
Step 4: Prep for printing.
-To print on the 3D printers at the Maker Space select to download the .STL file.
-Now place your .STL file in Cura which is the slicing program for the Taz 5. Open Cura and open your .STL file. You should see your design represented on the print bed.
Step 5: Print!
-Once the design is ready, we will go to the printer control. Select hot (nozzle) and print the temperature of the bed. (The temperature setting of the PLA plastic is usually about 205 ° c nozzle print bed and heating to 60 ° c)
-If everything is determined by the temperature we will print, see our digital design becomes a reality!
