Gearbox Software apparently announced after a number of teasers a new Borderlands game is coming to PAX East and a short teaser trailer has been released to this end. While the above video does not state quite clearly that it is specific to Borderlands 3, it surely looks like an entirely new entry in the loot-based shooter series. The teaser, titled "Mask of Mayhem," leads the viewer into a kind of diorama where personalities and familiar enemies are presented to intrigue what the game is all about. It also teases the players into some of the high jinks.
As the teaser reaches its conclusion, it pulls out from the madness to reveal that it was all the tapestry on the iconic mask the Psycho enemies wear. Although there's no gameplay, Gearbox is expected to show more of this new Borderlands at its PAX East panel on March 28.
It usually starts with a shot of Psychos who prostrate themselves before a huge armament character who is flanked by a statue of a angelic figure with a version of the iconic Borderlands Vault symbol upside down. As the camera moves seamlessly and through other scenarios, we see a dragon, a buggy character, a bunch of figures jumping high-five, a Ninja robot and many undercut hairstyles.
Tomorrow, this panel will be online live. The event will start at 11:00 PT / 2:00 ET / 18:00 GMT (05:00 AET at 29 March), and naturally GameSpot will take you the news of the panel. Stay tuned for the event's possible announcements.
"Another Borderlands are obviously going to exist," said CEO Randy Pitchford in 2016. Since then, the Gearbox's been quite open about a new Borderlands. "We don't even know if we'll call that." This new Teaser was shared with Pitchford on
Twitter, saying, "This is going on."
Before, on the operating table there was a picture of a type of robotic creature. Gearbox promised "revelations, exclusions and surprises never before seen," so we'll have more information about what the developer cooked. But the teasing of a game with a "3" in the title was quite clear. Furthermore, it suggested to announce several games.
Take Two is teasing "a very anticipated new title from one of the largest 2 K franchises" for quite a while on a release date. The game has been widely assumed to be the next Borderlands game; if so, by the end of March 2020 it could be expected to be launched.
