After yet another quarter of slow user growth,
Twitter has changed its flagship mobile applications on the Apple iTunes app store category. Rather than competition for Facebook,Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, Pinterest, and others in the crowded "social networking" category, Twitter had previously ranked in the top 10, the company has turned to its application of the "news" category, where it's now at #1.
The double impact of changes. For starters, Twitter has been ranked as a #5 application on social networks in the last few months--which is, of course, have no objection--ranking #1 applications are better in a category in the App Store's visibility.
As a first time setting up a new iPhone, through access to different categories of users of the application, they may be highly considered the number-one ranking.
More importantly, becoming the number one ranked app can potentially affect Twitter's "overall" ranking, will make it a better visibility on the app store's top "free" application chart where Twitter is #28.
The move also allows Twitter before a different audience-those who are looking for a simple way to keep up with the news on their mobile devices, rather than those who want to use different social networking applications. This may also help to increase download ... Or, at least, Twitter hope.
The company does not publicly comment on at this time of change, nor did it playing like that on Google. Time of writing, Twitter application for Google Play continues "society" category rankings.
It is worth noting that non-traditional news app Apple app store "news" category, often even more than those from mainstream publishers like the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times, NPR, and others.
For example, Reddit's new iOS app is still in the second news, just on Twitter. Flipboard Journal of social software applications is #13. Categories to facilitate newcomers broke into the rankings with a good, well--just look at the latest CNN political program (#3) or theSkimm the first native mobile effort (#5), for example.
Twitter switch moment when the company's user growth effectively remained stagnant. Although it gets a little older reached 310 million monthly active users in the past quarter, which is almost 350 million in 2015, growth in the 4th quarter.
Meanwhile, without striving to improve its products seems to play a role, including the Twitter user's timeline, and polls, change the "My Favorites" to "like," or even on the launch of a new product called "moments," attempted to summarize the best Twitter sort of changes in a separate tab.
This latter function is probably the most relevant new app store category on Twitter, which focused on planning in the easy to follow format characters in messages on Twitter.
According to the third-party application intelligence sensor towers, yesterday has Twitter switched its category. The company said Twitter should be easy to maintain temporarily before the first ranking in Reddit, and CNN, despite it has been behind the Messenger, Facebook and other social networks category.
Said it will take some time to see if this policy change will actually affect the overall ranking of Twitter. Now, it's gone. This means that, at least in this short period of time, Twitter's download is still the same as before despite the switch.
